Gretchen Tegethoff is a senior-level healthcare executive and chief information officer. With nearly two decades of experience in the Healthcare Information Technology Industry, Gretchen has proven herself to be a visionary leader with experience in myriad of different areas, including for-profit multi-hospital systems, medium integrated delivery networks and academic settings. Gretchen currently serves as the Vice President of CHIME Technologies, Inc., a for-profit affiliate company of The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME).
Most recently, Gretchen Tegethoff served as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Athens Regional Health System. Gretchen was responsible for leading IT strategy in alignment with business needs and priorities, creating and implementing plans to participate in federal programs, and advancing the IT organization/division. Gretchen was a business leader and the key strategic advisor to the CEO, with a direct reporting relationship. She previously held the role of Chief Information Officer at The George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC. In addition to her CIO roles, she has also served on multiple boards and has contributed as an advisor, advocate, writer, and speaker.
Throughout her career, Gretchen has continually been recognized for her success and leadership in the industry. In 2013 and 2014, she was identified as Becker’s Hospital Review’s “100 Hospital and Health System CIOs to Know.” She received Information Week’s “20 Health IT Leaders Who Are Driving Change” in 2013 as well. In 2011, she was an award recipient for Modern Healthcare’s Up & Comers recognition program. Additionally, Gretchen was the CHIME Health Forum Fellowship winner in 2008.
Gretchen Tegethoff attended West Virginia University School of Medicine, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology. She later went on to earn her Masters in Information Systems Technology from George Washington University School of Business. Gretchen has recently completed her Fundamentals of Finance Certification course at the University of Georgia, Terry College of Business as well.
Outside of work, Gretchen loves to spend her time outdoors or traveling as much as possible. She enjoys the beach, wineries/breweries, and hiking. Her favorite spots include relaxing on Chicks Beach, walking at Mt. Trashmore Park, and listening to live music at Neptune Park. She also enjoys spending quality time with her two Goddaughters. And last, but not least, she is a die hard Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins fan and enjoys taking trips back to her hometown to catch a game whenever she can.
